Four Powerful Positive Self-Talk Tips

Here are four biblical positive self- talks that I like to use while on my journey to  a healthy lifestyle, and when you apply them, they'll  will work for just about any one who wants to replace doubt with confidence.  I decided to share these with you because you may need to use these or know someone who can benefit from them.

  1. Philippians 4:13 says, " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, so, when your mind tells you, you can't do something, repeat the word of the Lord for victory.
  2. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your cares upon him, for he cares for you." So, When you feel you can't accomplish a goal, try praying about it and asking God for help, When we put our cares in his hand, he puts his peace in our  hearts.
  3. Jeremiah 31:13 says, " I'll convert their weeping into laughter, lavishing, comfort." invading their grief with joy! "  So, remember that their is going to be joy at the end of your goals and journey.
  4. 2 Chronicles 16:7 says, " but as for you, be strong and do not give up for your work will be rewarded."So, don't give up because your blessing is on its way!
I just want to add to this information, that God wants us to be healthy as possible because his word says, " Your body is the temple of the holy ghost. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

Tried and true Blogging Tips For new bloggers

This is for #Newbloggers. First, I want to say congratulations on your decision to become a blogger because it can be very rewarding. I have a lot of things I tried when I first started that I would like to share with you.  So, If you follow these tried and true tips, you will be way ahead of the game.  I don't pretend to know it all, but I will share with you what helped me in the beginning and had I known this in my early months of blogging, I wouldn't have made so many blogging mistakes. So, I'm sharing this with knowledge with you because I don't want you to  give up and struggle like I did .
  1. I think this is the best and number one piece of advice to follow.  Be clear about what you want to blog about, and Choose a unique blog title and stick to it.  When I first started out, I believe I changed my blog titles at least two times because I didn't take the time to plan  what I want my blog to be about.  So take some time to think about what you want to write about first, and make sure it's something you are good at and something you are passionate about as well as helpful.
  2. I think the second  priority is to focus on make blogging a long term commitment and create awesome content.

How to Make a Turkey roast and mashed potatoes for a Sunday meal?

Have you ever tried a turkey roast ? This was my first trying it, This roast was so good and easy to prepare!

Ever since I started my weight loss program , I'm always looking for ways to eat healthy, So I made this turkey roast that was easy to prepare.
First, I washed it off of course, then, I put chopped onions, and a half bell pepper and a cup of water in the bottom of the crock pot, and added the roast. I turned the crock pot on low and it slow cooked about five hours or so. It surprising to me of how much meat was on that little roast. It was enough for everyone to eat three times, and it smelled so good!  I made a gravy with 2 cups of water, a teaspoon of cornstarch, and 1/4 cups of soy sauce, then poured it over the turkey roast.  For the mashed potatoes, I like to make mine from scratch, so I boiled six medium potatoes until tender, mashed them up, and poured milk a little margarine and a little salt, and they came out good as usual. I love cooking in crock pots, some people call them slow cookers, I can put my food on, go to work and come back home with my meal ready to serve.

MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNAL FOR 2015

My Weight loss Report for April
Congratulations to me for making the effort to complete my weight loss journey for April.  I want to report that I lost a total of five pounds!  It wasn’t easy, but evidently, I did something right.  Because I lost five pounds, I’m feeling more motivated than ever to continue on this journey.  Giving up my old habits isn’t easy and I still struggle everyday with them.  I think besides watching what I eat and drink, I did more exercises than I did last month is what helped me achieve my goal.  My Goal for May is to lose no less than pounds.  I know it’s going to be hard and I may have some setbacks, but I plan to exercise even more than I did in April as well as watch what I eat.  If I do these things, I know I will lose what I desire.  There’s a saying that keeps coming to my mind that says, “If it’s to be, it’s up to me!”  I have some strategies that I plan to use to help me succeed this time around.

       I.            Think of losing weight as a positive experience, not a negative one.  Approaching weight loss with a positive attitude will help you succeed.
II.            Set realistic expectations for myself.  Focus on behavioral changes and don’t focus too much on weight changes.

Make WHITE CREAMED CORN EASY RECIPE

White Creamed Corn with bacon bits

This recipe is two steps which is easy to fix.
I love white creamed corn topped with bacon!
It seems that for me,bacon make everything tastes so good.  I no that bacon is not healthy, but I broke the rule today because it's not everyday that I eat bacon.  I came a long ways because in the past, I included bacon   in the majority of my veggies, but I have cut that down to at least once a week, then it will keep going down to once every twelve days and so on, but to be honest, I don't thing I will ever stop eating bacon completely.

Recipe

one frozen package of white cream corn, and bacon bits, cook it together and serve warm.
That's it! I told you it was easy, and I forget to mention it is good too! Now, you have a good side dish to try with the family.

How to make fresh fried okra taste great

Fried okra and bacon!

This is an easy recipe, and it can be served as a side dish.  If you love okra, you'll love this recipe.  Vegetables is something I purposely serve at every meal, and I usually exclude bacon , but I think a little bit of bacon every once in a while won't is ok for your diet.

Directions

cut up about two pounds of fresh okra from the field, but rinse it before cutting it up. Next, start the bacon slices in the oven at 350 degrees, and cook until it golden as you see in the picture. Take the bacon out the oven, then pour olive oil instead of the bacon oil. into a frying pan along with the bacon. When the oil is hot, throw in the squash and stir constantly to prevent sticking and keep stirring until the okra is tender, very tender. then serve with a scoop of rice or it can be eating alone. That's it!  I told you it would be easy to make.  Minnie L Douglas

SLOW COOKER LIMA BEANS

LIMA BEANS AND NECK BONES

Not bragging, but these lima beans were just as tasty as they look!  I cook beans a lot I guess because that's what a lot of country folks cooked where I grew up at and from what I understand, they are a great source of fiber and also gives energy and sticks to the stomach as my mother put it.  From my understanding, beans are good for the heart as well as fiber and energy.  These beans will go great with a piece of homemade southern style corn bread!

HEALTHY GRILLED CABBAGE RECIPE

GRILLED CABBAGE

My baby sister told me about how she saw someone cooked cabbage on the grill, so Sunday gone, I tried it out, and boy I tell you something, I had no regrets with this one. Besides it being easy to prepare, it was tasty and healthy at the same time!  All I did was washed it with water,,cut up the cabbage into chunks, laid the bacon at the bottom of the heavy duty foil paper, laid the cabbage on top and seasoned it with my favorite season, closed the foil up and let it cook on the grill for about 45 minutes or so. Cabbage makes it's own water, so no need for water, and no need for stirring over the stove. Thanks sis!

After cooking the cabbage, I threw some center cut pork chops on the grill for a total of about 12 minutes.

A easy recipe for Blueberry lovers

BLUE BERRIES AND WHIP CREAM!

Blueberries and whip cream is what I ate after completing my weekly diet. As you can see, I piled on the berries! Any kind of berries will go well with whip cream, and the good part about this recipe is that it only requires three items, a glass or bowl, berries and the cream. Just looking at this picture makes me want to go out a buy these items , but no matter how bad I want this, I must wait for it, so try it sometimes, you may fall in love with it just like I did.

How to make oven fried fish

If you want a quick, easy, and delicious meal to try, I recommend the fried catfish with bread or warm grits!

For dieter, add a little salt to the fish and eating one piece of fish might now off set your diet too much. This is a picture of my husbands plate.

To prepare the fried catfish
First and far most, rinse the meat off and pat it
  1. lightly season the fish with season salt pepper and your choice of meal, I use Louisiana fish fry meal
  2. to deep fry, put lots of grease in a deep skillet and fry hard
  3. fry fish until golden, pat the oil out of it with a clean and dry dish rag and let it get warm enough to eat.
  4.  serve with warm cooked grits.
  5. That was a quick and delicious meal with very little healthy ingredients, but I had my favorite chopped cucumbers and vinegar along with a banana to complete my meal.

GRILLED TERIYAKI AND SALMON RECIPE

Crushed pecan teriyaki and salmon dish for salmon lovers!
Check out this salmon crushed pecan teriyaki recipe.

I WANTED TO TRY OUT THIS RECIPE BECAUSE IT LOOKED
SOMETHING I MIGHT LOVE TO EAT.

THIS COULD BE A WONDERFUL MEAL TO SERVE WHEN COMPANY'S COMING AND YOU DONT HAVE A LOT F TIME TO PREPARE.  COMPLEMENTS FROM THE TAST OF HOME RECIPE BOOK. I ADDED THE TERIYAKI SAUCE TO GIVE IT THE TAST I WAS DESIRING..

PREP: 15 MIN, + STANDING
BAKE: 10 MIN.
4 salmon fillets (around 6 ounces each)
2 cups milk
1 cup chopped pecans
1?2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cu packed brown sugar ( I used 1/2 cup)
2 teaspoons seasoned salt
2 teaspoons canola oil
1l place salmon fillets in a large reseal able plastic bag, add milk. Seal bag and turn to coat. let stand for 10 minutes/ drain.
2. Meanwhile, in a shallow bowl, combine the pecans flour brown sugar, seasoned salt and pepper.  Coat fillets with pecan mixture, gently pressing into the fish.
3. In a large skillet, brown salmon over medium-high heat in oil. Transfer to a baking pan coated with cooking spray.  Bake at 400degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until the fish is flakey; yield 4 servings.
This recipe didn't deliver the tasted I had hoped for, not to say it won't deliver the taste for your taste buds! So what I did was poured some teriyaki sauce over the salmon after cooking it. The sauce delivered the taste that I was looking for, not to sweet but just right for my likings.

How to make a Healthy Hamburger Sandwich

THE JUICIEST AND HEALTHY BURGER EVER!

Most people love burgers especially if they're good!
Since I started this weight loss diet, I've been weaning  away from all the white bread as requested by my doctor, It's hard to let go of old habits, but It's at the point of choosing what's most important for our health or satisfying our cravings and end up sick. The good thing about making your own burgers is you get to choose what goes in them and on them. I made this burger the same way I did before eating healthy except I changed a few things instead of using bread crumbs, I used 1/4 cups of Quaker real oat meal, and I used seasoning salt  instead of regular table salt, instead of using white bread or white buns, I used the flat whole grain round bread, and just with those few changes, my burger was healthier and still juicy and delicious.  I used to eat two burgers, but I only eat one and fill up with veggies and fruits.

ingredients

1 pound of ground beef

season salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup oat meal
sprinkle of accent flavor
1/2 cup chopped onions
whole wheat flat round bread

note:  grilled and baked foods are always recommended instead of frying.
